Good morning. It's Saturday, November 29th. I'm Charles Coleman Jr. in for my friend and colleague Ali Velshi.

We begin this morning with new developments in the investigation into Wednesday's deadly ambush of two National Guard members who were on patrol

near the White House. Specialist Sarah Bextrum and Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolf were both shot in the

attack, which officials are now calling a, quote, targeted shooting. Bextrum died Thursday night from her

injuries. Now, Wolf remains in critical condition. Bextram's death prompted Janine Piro,

the U.S. attorney from D.C., to announce upgraded charges of first-degree murder against the suspect.

And she added that there are, quote, certainly more charges to come. The alleged gunman is in

custody. He is an Afghan national and refugee who once served as part of an elite

CIA-trained counterterrorism unit alongside American troops in Afghanistan. He initially

arrived in the United States under humanitarian parole in 2021 during the Biden administration

and was granted asylum in April of this year under the Trump administration.

Now, President Trump has blamed the attack and the suspect's presence in the country on Biden-era

vetting. And he has responded by announcing sweeping new crackdowns on immigration and certain

refugee populations. Trump announced on his own social media platform

that his administration will, quote,

permanently pause migration from all third world countries.

The Trump administration has also said

that it will review green card holders

from countries on its travel ban list.

And just last night, the State Department announced

that it has, quote, immediately paused visa

issuance for individuals traveling on Afghan passports.
