Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know for Friday, July 11th.

President Donald Trump is heading to central Texas today, where he'll see firsthand the devastation caused by last week's floods.

Search and rescue efforts are continuing in the state, as more than 160 people are still missing.

CNN's Julia Vargas Jones is in Kerr County, one of the worst hit areas.

Yeah, Joe, on the banks of the Guadalupe River this morning, we are seeing search crews

still making their way, looking for those who are still missing. Where I'm standing right now, it would have been impossible to stand a week ago as it would all have been submerged in water.

What the president is going to see is exactly the damage from all of that water. He will be

meeting with local officials, first responders and some of the families who lost loved ones.

This trip is about showing support for this community and also showing that state and federal response

has been in lockstep throughout this disaster, but also pushing back on the growing criticism

about that response and how it unfolded both at the federal and the local level.

This comes after he sent more than 20 world leaders letters this week, outlining what new rate they'll

face if they don't get a trade agreement by the deadline. Meanwhile, Trump's campaign against

the Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell has heated up. The Trump administration accused Powell

of breaking the law by not following regulations, and of lying to Congress about plans

to renovate the Fed's headquarters.

Many analysts say this could be an attempt to lay the groundwork to justify firing Powell,

which would be tough to do. CNN has reached out to the Central Bank for comments.
