In this episode, as media focuses on leaked documents from the UK's ambassador to the US, you might have missed President Trump's speech on the

environment. We'll take a look at that. We'll consider the environmental commitments of the contenders

for the Conservative and Lib Dem leadership, and scientists have concluded that trillions,

yes, trillions of trees, might be one of the best ways to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, but it's a

report that's not come out without some controversy. But first we'll see whether the Committee

on Climate Change thinks that the government is on course to meet its new net zero target.

This is news hot off the press this morning, as we're recording on Wednesday, that the committee has

published its latest progress report on the UK's trajectory towards its climate targets.

And what have they found in their analysis?

If it were a school report, it would be a pretty bad one. It might be, it might be getting

on for a, well, maybe not on F, but it wouldn't be a good grade either. So the Committee on Climate Change is the

independent advisory body and has this duty that's set out under the Climate Change Act to report

annually on how it thinks the government is doing on reducing emissions and on preparing for the

impacts of climate change as well. And they've come out
