| 0:55.7 | impacts of that might be. But first, the UK has become the first G7 country to do what, Matt? |
| 1:02.7 | To legislate for net zero greenhouse gas emissions. So in the last episode we were talking about |
| 1:08.2 | what Theresa May's environmental legacy might be. |
| 1:11.0 | We said that one of the opportunities for her to build more of a positive legacy would be to do this before she left office. |
| 1:17.0 | And since the last episode, the government has brought forward secondary legislation, |
| 1:21.4 | which would change our 2050 target from 80% emissions reductions to 100% emissions reductions by 2050. |
| 1:28.4 | So this podcast has got listeners in pretty high places, obviously. |
| 1:31.9 | It has, yeah. We've obviously had some influence. |
| 1:35.5 | And what does that mean exactly then? |
| 1:37.7 | So it means that the balance between the emissions which there would still be |
| 1:43.5 | and the emissions which would be absorbed by various different methods |
| 1:46.5 | would mean that overall the UK economy was achieving at least an 100% cut in its emissions |
| 1:53.0 | compared to 1990 levels by 2050. |
| 1:56.4 | And that would vary for Scotland and Wales, but overall across the UK as a whole, |
