Good afternoon. It is Sunday, October 26th, and I'm Charles Coleman, Jr.

In for my friend Ali Belchie, we've got a lot to talk about.

Now, it's 12 p.m. here in New York, which means that it's 12 midnight in Malaysia.

And that is where President

Trump is right now on the first leg of a three-nation tour through Asia. Earlier, he participated

in the annual summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. He also attended the

signing of a ceasefire agreement between Thailand and Cambodia. And then later today, he'll head to Japan,

where he will meet with the new Japanese prime minister,

as well as the Japanese emperor.

After that, he is going to be going to South Korea for another summit.

Trump is also expected to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping

while in South Korea on Thursday.

This is going to be their first meeting since June of 2019 when they met on the sidelines

of the G20 summit in Japan during Trump's first term in office. That meeting also came

during a trade war. This week's anticipated sitdown comes as the current trade war between the United States and China continues to escalate.

Trump recently threatened new additional tariffs of 100% on Chinese goods starting November 1st.

That is on top of the already 30% tariff that is currently in place.

Now, although this morning, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on NBC's Meet the

press that he believes a deal will be made to avert that new 100 percent tariff.

The secretary, however, did not address Trump's new tariff threat against Canada.

Yesterday, Trump posted on social media that he was going to add an additional 10%

tariff on Canada because of a Canadian TV commercial that he did not like.
