President Donald Trump is calling on Israel to immediately stop its Gaza bombing campaign

to secure the safe extraction of remaining hostages after Hamas agreed to portions of his peace

proposal.

The Palestinian group said yesterday it had agreed to release all Israeli hostages alive or dead under the terms of Trump's 20-point plan and signaled readiness to immediately enter mediated negotiations to discuss the details.

The president rolled out his proposal last week alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

And White House press secretary Caroline Levitt is putting things bluntly.

I think the entire world should hear the President of the United States loud and clear.

And Hamas has an opportunity to accept this plan and to move forward in a peaceful and prosperous

manner in the region.

And if they don't, the consequences, unfortunately, are going to be very tragic.

In a statement shared with Reuters, Hamas also agreed to hand over administration of the Gaza Strip

to an independent Palestinian body with Arab and Muslim backing and said it would be willing to

discuss other aspects of Trump's proposal as part of talks.

Missing from the response were commitments to disarm and have no role in Gaza's governance.

Netanyahu's office said in a statement that it was preparing for the immediate implementation

of the first stage of President Trump's plan for the prompt release of all the hostages.
