Good evening once again. I am Stephanie Ruhl, and right now the sun is rising on day six of the U.S. and Israel's war against Iran, which is now expanding across the region.

Today, NATO shot down a missile that was headed for Turkey. Iran has been targeting countries that host American military facilities and an air base in southern Turkey has U.S. Air Force presence.

Of course, an attack on a NATO country could trigger the alliance's mutual defense clause

and bring a lot more countries into this war. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says an American

submarine sank an Iranian

warship using a torpedo off Sri Lanka. It is the first time an American sub launched a torpedo

in combat and hit a ship since World War II. 180 people were believed to be on board the Iranian ship.

32 have reportedly been rescued.

And then the war is not just expanding outward across the Middle East. Today, Hegeseth and the chairman

of Joint Chiefs Dan Cain made it clear that the U.S. will be going deeper into Iran.
