Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines of the day. Number one, the spending wars heat up.

everyone. Welcome to the holiday week where lots of folks are off. A programming note,

we will be on the Daily Punch Monday through

Wednesday. This week, we will not have any additions on Thursday and Friday. And after that,

we'll be back to our regular scheduled programming. The House and Senate are out of session

this week, but the big thing we are focused on. Let's talk about the fiscal year

2025 spending fight and what it means for president-elect Donald Trump and Congress.

A key appointment that Trump has made, Russell, vote, as his pick for OMB director, which

would be a return to this powerful post for vote. If he's confirmed the 48-year-old who played a

supporting role in the events that led to Trump's 2020 impeachment could end up having as big an impact

early as any of the president-elects picks. Let's just not, that can't be overstated enough.

This is probably somebody you might not

have heard of, but is who is going to have massive power, particularly when it comes to how

the Trump administration is thinking about government spending. Vote who spent a dozen years

on Capitol Hill as a House and Senate budget staff are strongly opposed the 2023 spending deal between President Joe Biden and then Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

He worked with hardline conservatives to try to undermine the Fiscal Responsibility Act.
