I'm Danielle Kurtzlavin, political reporter.

And I'm Scott Horstley, White House correspondent.

Hey Scott, so you're at the White House right now.

Yeah, so we heard from the president there today also from Hillary Clinton and from how Speaker Paul Ryan will get to all that in a bit.

But first, I want to talk with you and Danielle about what the latest picture is of how Trump won and who voted and who did not.

Danielle, you've crunched some of these numbers for us, right?

Okay, so let's start with just the raw numbers of the popular vote.

So this isn't final. Clinton is ahead of Trump in the popular vote by around 220,000 votes.

This has slowly been inching around all day, but that's where we are right now.

It could, you know, change by the time this podcast goes up.

That's very close.

It's phenomenally close when you consider that together, the two of them have around not quite 120 million votes counted thus far.

Wow.

And so that 120 million, what's that ratio of all adults that are registered to vote or able to vote?

Do we know that?

Yes.

So according to the US elections project, 231 and a half million people were eligible give or take.
