Donald's tariffs continue to hurt the U.S. economy and alienate countries around the world,

0:05.7

including our allies, but his tariff games aren't quite going as he planned, with continuing

0:11.5

unexpected consequences. Many countries have implemented retaliatory tariffs of their own,

0:17.0

and their citizens have protested Americans' betrayal by boycotting U.S. goods,

0:22.5

services, and travel. When it comes to putting their money where their mouths are, Canadians

0:27.3

are leading the way. American alcohol distributors and distilleries are taking a particularly

0:32.9

hard hit. Last week, CNBC spoke to Joe Malioco, president of Michter's Distillery and Chatham

imports, who had this to say about Canada's current attitude about American produced alcohol.

Alberta and Saskatchewan are now open to having American liquor sales, but that's going to be

1:24.6

with a 25% tariff, which is pretty hefty.

1:27.6

For example, in Saskatchewan, a bottle of our entry-level U.S.1 Bourbon,

1:32.9

mixed U.S.1 Bourbon, is going to go from $108 to $133.

1:36.9

That's a $25 Canadian increase all at once.

1:41.2

So I can't imagine this not going to affect volume.

1:44.6

That doesn't seem like a particularly efficient way to put America first by making it impossible for American businesses to sell their goods in other countries.

1:54.5

But apparently, Donald either doesn't care or doesn't actually know the impact his insane economic policies

2:03.1

are having on American businesses.
