You're ready? Let's do this. Just hours after steep sanctions went into effect, President Trump

changed his mind. Well, about some of them, anyway. That 10% baseline tariff on virtually all imports is staying in effect.

It's the higher so-called reciprocal rates on nearly 100 countries that are now on hold.

Trump says he decided to hold off because of growing concern about the economy.

And now this opens up a 90-day rush for trading partners to offer Trump deals to reduce their tariffs

to something the

president considers to be more fair or come up with some other kind of incentive for the U.S.

But he's not backing down on China. In fact, Trump raised the tariffs on Chinese imports to

125 percent effective immediately. Of course, that impacts tons of products from toys to sneakers to iPhones.

And goods from Canada and Mexico, not covered under a current trade agreement, still have a 25% tariff.

Plus, there are separate tariffs on imported vehicles, steel, and aluminum.

And the Trump administration says it's still working on tariffs on items like lumber and pharmaceuticals.
