It's officially happened. At midnight, President Trump's steep tariffs went into effect, targeting

dozens of America's trading partners. Of course, the tariffs are higher for some

countries than others. Already over the weekend, places like the UK and Australia got hit with

the baseline 10% tariff. Now, higher tariffs have gone into effect, like the 46% tariff on Vietnam,

32% on Taiwan, and 20% on the European Union. China is facing the highest tariffs since the total

rate for China is now 104%. Not all of these tariffs are expected to last along, since the Trump

administration has scheduled trade talks with several countries like South Korea and Italy. But others,

like China, are refusing to bow to Trump and promising to fight.

China and Canada have their own tariffs against the U.S. starting this week, too. And the EU has

ideas for retaliation that are now up for debate. So with all these developments, there are

fears of a trade war and a major economic fallout, even worse than what's already started on Wall Street.
