Donald woke up to yet more brutal polling numbers this morning, which is the kind of bad news that lands just as his trade deals are collapsing around him.

Or I should say deals. With his self-imposed August trade deadline just one day away, the economy is continuing its decline.

And Americans really are starting to pay attention. According to a new Times, New GovFull, support for Donald is slipping very quickly.

Only 29% of Americans now say they expect to be better off a year from now.

That's down from 33% when he took office. Meanwhile, nearly two-thirds

of Americans at 63% told pollsters they feel the country is quote unquote out of control.

If they think it's bad now, just wait until that tariff deadline hits tomorrow. Even Donald

is starting to notice that all is not well. Just yesterday,

he took to his failing social media platform, insisting there would be no exceptions to that deadline.

He wrote, quote, the August 1st deadline is the August 1st deadline. It stands strong and will not be

extended. A big day for America, unquote,

all caps, et cetera. Less than 24 hours later, guess what? Donald de Taco, I'm so sorry,

I always forget the D is silent. Donald Trump always chickens out. Yes. So he chickened out.

On his own trade threat. He announced that Mexico would get yet another 90-day extension to give it more time to make a deal with the United States.

His new post read, quote, I have just concluded a telephone conversation with the president of Mexico, Claudia Scheinbaum.

The complexities of a deal

with Mexico are somewhat different than the other nations because of both the problems and assets

of the border. We've agreed to extend for 98 period the exact same deal as we had for the last

short period of time, unquote. Wait a second. I thought that the August 1st deadline was the August 1st deadline, and yes, I am saying

that in all caps with lots of exclamation points.

It was supposed to be for every country without exception, no matter what, right?

I mean, Donald Trump is a man of his word, isn't he?
