Tonight Donald Trump's latest delay tactic just one day after Jack Smith

asks the Supreme Court to weigh in. Plus an election worker testifies in the

Good evening once again, I'm Stephanie Rule,

live from MS NBC headquarters here in New York City and today Donald Trump is

ramping up his campaign to halt all proceedings in his federal election

interference trial. Late this afternoon his lawyers filed new documents asking for the case to be put on

hold until there's a decision about his claim that he cannot be prosecuted because

of presidential immunity. Now remember, it was just Monday.

Jack Smith asked the Supreme Court to quickly settle that issue.

Smith's unusual request is about timing.

He wants to make sure that the trial starts on or close to March 4th,

the date that has been set by the judge overseeing the case.

Trump is also the man, the main defendant in Smith's other big case involving classified

documents, those that were found down at Maralago.
