Tonight the race to protect a key priority for President Biden's agenda, wartime

military aid for Ukraine and Israel. That $100 billion aid package is now tied up in a fight

on Capitol Hill involving our southern border. Republicans refuse to release the

money unless the White House agrees to their demands for border security and immigration

policy that includes a return to some Trump-era policies.

Now, Senators have been meeting with White House officials to try to work out a deal.

The Senate was supposed to leave today for holiday recess.

But this afternoon, Majority Leader Schumer said the Senate will be back next week.

The Senate

will return on Monday. That will give negotiators from the White House, Senate

Democrats, Senate Republicans, a time to work through the

weekend in an effort to reach a framework agreement. to work

agreement.

Our Republican colleagues who have said action on the border is so urgent

should have no problem with continuing to work next week.

Schumer said he hopes they'll have something to vote on by next week,
