Good morning, everyone. I'm Kate Baldwin. It's Tuesday, April 7th. Here are the five things you need to know to start your day.

Number one, the deadline. The date and time certain set by President Trump for a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz is hanging heavily over the entire Middle East right now.

8 p.m. tonight, Washington time.

If Iran doesn't strike some sort of deal with him or immediately reopen the strait to shipping traffic,

Trump says he's going to, quote, blow up the whole country.

And he's been keenly focused on threatening civilian infrastructure, like bridges and power

plants.

Trump even laying out his timing here.

Every bridge in Iran will be decimated by 12 o'clock tomorrow night, where every power

plant in Iran will be out of business burning, exploding, and never to be used again.

I mean, complete demolition by 12 o'clock.

And it'll happen over a period of four hours if we wanted to.

We don't want that to happen.

Iran, so far, not showing signs of backing down, hitting several sites in Israel.

The IDF says were Iranian cluster munitions.

That's what they're responding to.

But back to Trump's threat, targeting civilian infrastructure could be considered and is considered

by many a war crime.

President brushed off those concerns though and projected confidence about a draft 45-day

ceasefire plan circulating yesterday, one that Trump called a significant step, but not good enough.

Iranian state media says Iran rejected a temporary ceasefire and called for a permanent end to the war,

so add it all up and stand by to stand by as something seems like it'll have to give
