Tonight, President Trump faces roadblocks in the courts as his administration works overtime

to remake parts of the government, the latest legal developments on the FBI and the federal

buyouts. Then Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent defends Elon Musk's Doge team as, quote,

highly trained professionals. The very same day, a member of that team faces scandal

and resigns. Plus, Democrats think Elon Musk is a vulnerability for Trump. But Izzy, we'll get

into it as the 11th hour gets underway on this Thursday night.

Good evening. Once again, I am Stephanie Ruhl, and it is day 18 of the second Trump administration.

Take a breath on that one. And like the last 17, there's a lot to cover.

Tonight, we are learning more about the uncertain future for USAID, the agency that has been a

cornerstone of American humanitarianism for more than

six decades. Two sources tell NBC News the agency will be reduced from more than 5,000 workers to just

about 290. Two unions representing government workers have already filed suit against the Trump

administration tonight for shutting down U.S. aid.

And news on Capitol Hill where the Senate voted to confirm Russ vote to run the Office of Management and Budget.

The vote was along party lines. Vote was a key architect of Project 2025. Remember what Donald Trump said he wanted nothing to do with yet much of what's happened in the last 17 days is straight out of the 2025 playbook. And vote said in his confirmation hearing that he believes President Trump can withhold spending Congress has already authorized. Look, I know all of this can be overwhelming. but it is important to remember there are still

checks and balances, however imperfect, that can block some of the things that Donald Trump

is proposing and it's happening right now. The courts are only just beginning to assert themselves.
