Hey, matter of opinion listeners, it's me, Michelle Cottle.

This week the show is technically on vacation, but as you may have heard, the Georgia indictment

of Donald Trump finally dropped.

No way I could wait another week to talk about it, so I called up my legal genius friend

and opinion columnist, David French, to take apart this fourth and possibly final indictment

of Donald Trump.

Okay, Michelle, so I heard you say on matter of opinion that this is your favorite indictment.

Why is this your favorite?

So before we knew any of the legal details, Georgia just seems like it would be an opportunity

to be the perfect combination of serious crimes that were pretty easy to lay out for regular

people.

Things like pressuring public officials to find missing votes and intimidating poll workers

and defrauding the state.

I mean, this stuff is much worse or it sounds much worse at least than hoarding boxes of old

papers in your super tacky bathroom and they don't rely on some obscure legal strategy like

the New York case does, but you're the legal guru, David, so tell me how serious a threat

this is to Trump.

So what really interested me about this indictment is that it was both more ambitious than the

federal case brought against Donald Trump by Jack Smith and also in some ways more simple

and direct.

So the more ambitious is easy to state.
