Good morning. It's Sunday, April 27th. I'm Charles Coleman Jr. sitting in for my friend and colleague Ali Belchi, and we've got a lot to talk about.

We begin this morning with brand new polling released just in the last hour that paints

a grim picture for Donald Trump's second presidency as the 100-day mark approaches.

A new NBC News stay-tune poll shows that Trump's approval rating sits at just 45%.

Now, that's consistent with the results from other recent polls.

The majority of Americans, 55% disapprove of the job he's doing.

And this is historically bad.

It's a worse approval rating than any of his recent predecessors that they received at this point in their presidencies.

NBC's polls show other signs of trouble for Trump, too.

As you can probably guess, the vast majority of Republicans approve of how Trump is doing,

and the vast majority of Democrats do not. But when it comes to independence,

68% say that they disapprove of the presidency so far.

There's also a growing intensity gap that is emerging,

with many more people feeling strong disapproval than those diehard Trump fans who feel strongly

about the job that Donald Trump is doing. 42% of respondents said that they strongly disapprove

of how he's handling the job of president. And overall, 60% said that they strongly disapprove of how he's handling the job of president.

And overall, 60% said that they think that the United States is headed down the wrong track.

But it gets worse. If you recall, President Trump made immigration and the economy the centerpieces

of his 2024 campaign. He traveled across the country and touted his mass deportation plans.

He also declared tariff to be the most beautiful word

and suggested that it would solve the country's economic problems.

And that's how he won the presidential race.
