President Donald Trump is selling his affordability message in Pennsylvania, where he's touting

his economic record like he's doing here. A plus plus plus plus plus. That's Trump in an interview

with Politico out today.

Trump's trip is the first of many the White House is organizing around the cost of living.

An issue it believes will be the key decider in next year's midterms.

Trump promised a new age of economic prosperity on the campaign trail, but polls show that a majority of Americans feel Trump has yet to deliver.

Newly released data delayed by the government shutdown shows job openings ticked up in October,

hiring stalled, and layoffs increased.

One expert tells CNN, the jobs market quote, is becoming a much more exclusive club.

Business journalist Robin Farzard echoed those sentiments.

There's so much pain at the working class level. If you see the real kind of jobless numbers backing out of COVID, numbers

that more resemble 2009 when we were in the financial crisis. I think the headline Bureau of Labor

Statistics numbers don't bear that out. But if you have capital, if you have assets,

you're feeling great. It's expensive to eat out. Your grocery cart is still expensive. I think a lot

of people out there don't realize that inflation doesn't mean we round-trip back to 2019 prices.
