Hey, good morning to you. It is Sunday, May the 17th, and Donald Trump just had another

successful stop on his revenge tour. The two-term incumbent Republican Senator Bill Cassidy of

Louisiana finished third in a three-way primary for his own seat after

Donald Trump endorsed one of his challengers. Bill Cassidy was one of the seven Senate Republicans

who voted to convict Donald Trump in his second impeachment trial in 2021, and Trump has not

forgiven nor forgotten that. Last night or yesterday in a morning in a rant

against Cassidy on social media, Trump said Cassidy would get clobbered and that he was disloyal to

quote the man who got him elected, which would be interesting if true, but this being Trump,

chances are that's not true. Cassidy was first elected to the House in 2008, well before

Donald Trump was elected, and to the Senate in 2014, well before Donald Trump was elected.

Trump did not get Cassidy elected, but Cassidy is an interesting character. He is a medical

doctor, and as such, he crossed Trump when he expressed uncertainty over Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s

nomination as HHS secretary last year.

So that annoyed Trump and the far right.

But then the guy who's the actual doctor eventually voted for Kennedy, which annoyed moderates and many normal people.

And even though he ultimately voted for Kennedy, the make moderates and many normal people. And even though he ultimately

voted for Kennedy, the make America healthy against Super PACs spent a million dollars against

Cassidy's reelection campaign. In remarks last night, Senator Cassidy made some not-so-suttle

jabs at the president. When you participate in democracy, sometimes it doesn't turn out the way you want it to.

But you don't pout, you don't whine, you don't claim the election was stolen, you don't find a reason.

You don't manufacture some excuse.

You thank the voters for the privilege of representing the state or the country for as long as you've had that privilege.
