Donald Trump sexually assaulted a woman and then defamed her by calling her a liar.

That's the verdict of a jury in New York, which ordered the former president to pay E. Jean Carroll

around $5 million in damages.

She accused him of raping her in a department store dressing room in Manhattan in the mid-1990s.

The jury in the civil case rejected the rape allegation,

but concluded he did sexually abuse her.

In an online post, Mr. Trump described the verdict as a disgrace and said he had no idea who E. Jean Carroll was.

Speaking outside court, his lawyer, Joe Tekapina, said they would appeal.

It's hard to see behind a jury room door.
