Hello, and welcome to the Byron New York Show in Roach at St.

We'd like to get right into it, and what we're going to get into today is Donald Trump's

lead over Ron DeSantis in the Republican presidential race and whether anybody else actually matters.

At this moment, at this moment, that could change in the future, but whether anybody

else really matters at the moment.

Now, if you look at the real clear politics, average of polls, which I do a lot, there

are 59 polls going back to January of 2021, right, when he left office, when Trump left

office, there are 59 polls about the Republican presidential race.

In 58 of them, Donald Trump, the former president, is the leading candidate sometimes by huge

margin.

So 59 polls, Trump leads in 58.

There was one poll from CNN.

This month, it was taken from March 8th to 12th, I think.

And it showed Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, in the lead.

Now, it was a small lead.

DeSantis was ahead of Trump by two points, but I mean, the significance was pretty big.

I mean, DeSantis was actually in the lead.

Here was the first sign, the first sign that, you know, maybe another Republican candidate

could overtake Trump in the 2024 Republican presidential nomination race.

Maybe Republicans were finally moving away from Trump a little bit as a powerful alternative

presented itself.
