Let me take you behind the scenes of a cable news show.

What happened yesterday, you know, I often talk on the podcast about how we're always making

changes on Friday, and then I don't podcast until Monday, so we're also making changes

on Saturday and Sunday morning.

Well, about an hour before airtime.

I got a text from one of my lead-off guests, Mary Catherine Hamm, saying, are you covering the lack of TV coverage of this devastation, this utter devastation in North Carolina from Hurricane Aline. And we weren't.

I was just that morning reading about some of the devastations and seeing that it's almost

unimaginable. But with some exceptions, there just wasn't much TV coverage.

It was like the hurricane hit Florida.

And then, you know, the hurricane was moving inland.

And at that point, everyone assumed, well, it's done its worst.

So I told her, you know, this is something we should do.

The show was very tight with a lot of things that we had lined up.

But I'll ask you about it, and you can talk about it. Mary Catherine is from North Carolina.

And she provided some statistics right now, I think the total death toll is over 100, according to the latest estimates I've seen.

But when you look at these pictures, particularly from the town of Asheville, the New York Times just has a sort of rolling shot of what had been the roads there.

A lot of the bridges were knocked out by the hurricane.

And it's just an utter picture of devastation.
