On to our first story.

Israel, it appears, isn't satisfied with the destruction, instability and mass death it's causing in pursuit of its own

ongoing genocide in Gaza, nor with the mass displacement and repression it's enforcing in the West Bank.

It now emerges that the country wanted to open a new and even more incendiary front in its

several-pronged quest to dominate the wider region.

The New York Times reports that Israel had made imminent plans to launch an attack on Iran's

nuclear facilities, but they were halted after U.S. President Donald Trump withheld his approval.

The Times reports this. Israeli officials had recently developed plans to attack Iranian

nuclear sites in May. They were prepared to carry them out and at times were optimistic that

the United States would sign off. The goal of the proposals, according to officials briefed on

them, was to set back to Iran's ability to develop a nuclear weapon by a year or more.

Almost all of the plans would have required US help, not just to defend Israel from

Iranian retaliation, but also to ensure that an Israeli attack was successful, making the

United States a central part of the attack itself.

Now, Trump ran his campaign on the promise to bring the US's involvement
