I want to highlight a subject that got pushed out of the headlines because the news cycle is almost impossible to keep up with these days.

On December 4th, 2025, the Trump regime unveiled its national security strategy, the NSS, an official document presented to Congress that articulates the administration's view of U.S. national security interests,

including global threats, foreign policy priorities, and national security objectives.

It turns out the Trump regime's strategy is a travesty that alienates our allies,

embraces authoritarian leaders around the world, and threatens the Western liberal Democratic order.

None of this should surprise us because Donald and those in his orbit, including J.D. Vance,

Marco Rubio, Pete Hagseth, and every single congressional Republican have shown themselves completely

willing to turn the United States of America into an autocratic fascist regime. So why would they want to embrace our allies

and alienate authoritarian? Why would they want to strengthen democracy worldwide when they are

squarely aligned with Europe's far right movement? One of the most troubling aspects of the

NSS is the Trump regime's perspective on the European Union and its harsh

criticism of our longtime ally, which is characterized as being in quote unquote civilizational decline.

The section on promoting European greatness makes no mention of shared democratic values,

except to blame the EU for subverting democratic processes and undermining liberty and sovereignty.

It says the U.S. will support patriotic parties to prevent a future of civilizational collapse in

Europe, where certain NATO members will become

majority non-European.

In the past year, U.S. officials have praised parties like Germany's AFD.

Promoting them would be seen as election interference from a country that is supposedly an ally.

I believe that issues such as freedom of expression or the organization of our free societies here,

at least in Germany, do not belong in this context.
