I believe Colorado profoundly rejected Trumpism and the chaos the Trumpism represented.

Michael Bennett is the senior democratic senator from Colorado.

A famously purple state in the weeks leading up to the 2022 midterms, polls showed a much

closer race for Bennett and Colorado seemed to be a place where Republicans might actually

flip a few seats.

But as it turned out, that was not the case.

Not only was there no red wave in Colorado, there was something of a blue wave there instead.

Bennett defeated his Republican challenger Joe O'Day, the more moderate Republican to

come out of the GOP primary, by a whopping 15 points.

15 points, it's hard to believe.

So I'm not going to get to go to Colorado and cover close races anymore, am I?

Well, I still think we're a swing state.

I really do.

Well, that seems like a bit of a stretch.

Last month, Democrats retained all statewide offices in Colorado, Governor Jarrett Paulus,

one reelection by 18 points, and Democrats also kept both chambers of the General Assembly.

The results in Colorado point to a trend that continued in 2022, and can be summed up

in what I realized after I wrote it, is the world's worst nursery rhyme.

Red states are getting redder, blue states are getting bluer, and swing states are fewer

and fewer.
