Today we will discuss two of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, St. Philip and St. James

Once again, I did not have much time to write a script, so I'm going to be going

very much off script, but hopefully it will still not be all that bad. Let us begin their stories.

St. James the Les was the son of Alpheus of Cleophas. His mother, Mary, was a close relative of the Blessed Virgin, and for that reason,

according to Jewish custom, he was sometimes called the brother of the Lord.

So what they mean is brother is not literally, he's not literally the brother of our Lord,

but because he is a close relative, most people say cousin.

He is still called his brother, which is a custom that the Jews had.

He is not to be confused with the other James called the Greater, who was also one of the 12 apostles and was the brother of St. John the evangelist,

and was one of the favorites three, quote unquote. You remember that there were three apostles

who our Lord showed special precedence to, Peter, James, and John. Those were the three that

were at his transfiguration. There were also the three that went further into the garden right before our Lord's agony.
