Today is day three of our fun to prevention based on my new book The Power of Fun.

On Monday and Tuesday, we talked about what fun feels like, and we discussed my proposed

definition of fun, which is that fun is the confluence of three psychological states,

playfulness, connection, and flow.

As you listened, you might have noticed that when I talk about fun, I often refer to it

as true fun, and you may have wondered why.

I do so as a way to distinguish it from what I call fake fun, which is true fun's evil

Fake fun is my term for activities and products that are marketed to us as fun, but they do

not actually produce feelings of playfulness, connection, or flow.

Some of the most common examples include social media, or spending hours upon hours binge-watching

Much like junk food, fake fun gives us a quick fix of pleasure, but ultimately doesn't
