Hello, everybody and welcome to True Crime Time for Thursday, April 30th, 2026, and I am Cindy Overton.

And Woody is, it's like a tag thing again, but Woody is otherwise disposed of,

oh, disposed of, Woody is otherwise taking care of business that I can't take care of.

So I get to sit in today, and of course I'm solo.

But let's get straight into it.

I've got a few announcements at the end about the live and a few other questions I want to ask and hopefully you'll respond to.

But on April 30th of 2023, 19-year-old Cameron Everest Brandt attacked a house party,

shooting two teenagers and wounding four others on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Brand was quickly arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault.

So since this was just a few years ago, I actually did some digging on this story.

And just a month and a half ago, Brand actually entered in an open plea of guilty to two counts of first degree murder and four counts of aggravated assault.

So like I said, the shooting occurred on April 30th of 2023, and it claimed the lives of an 18-year-old, De Arias, or Dede Smith, and 16-year-old Haley Stamper, and both were students of Hancock High School.

And this was in Mississippi.

Like I said, it was the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but the sentencing is scheduled for June 2nd of this year,

and he faces the possibility of two life sentences plus up to 80 years for the aggravated assault charges.

Brand did admit in court to shooting 17 times at the party, stating his mind was clouded by alcohol and marijuana at the time. He noted a prior social media dispute with one of the victims.

And in February of this year, a judge granted a change of venue for the trial due to the

extensive pre-trial publicity.

And Brand has actually been held in Hancock County Jail since his arrest in April of

2023.

So that is this day in history for April 30th.
