Trump's stated goal of cracking down on crime in Washington, D.C., is moving forward,

with National Guard troops and vehicles now on the streets.

Yesterday evening, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser called the military deployment a, quote,

authoritarian push in a town hall meeting.

Trump has also warned other cities such as Baltimore with high crime rates, despite the fact

homicide rates in these cities are falling.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore said last night he would not authorize the deployment of National

Guard troops.

He's using military personnel, the citizens' soldiers, as a cudgel and as a tool,

to be able to advance his political purposes.
