And I want to start there with a personal note.

We had an active shooter drill last week, not an active shooter drill, an active shooter situation that turned out to be a cruel hoax last week.

I was not there. I was walking the dog, actually. I got a lot of texts from people saying, are you safe? Are you okay? Are you there?

And imagine getting those texts with no context.

And of course then I checked and I had the alerts that we had an active shooter.

Now the active shooter reports were all over the place. There was talk about at Villanova,

but then it became clear to me that the active shooter epicenter was the law school.

This is different.

You know, when you're in a situation, you see a shooter situation at another university.

You see it across the country.

You see it across the world.

And even if I saw it within Villanova campus, I'd probably

have a different reaction, but this was in the law school. I've been teaching this building the last
