Summary

It's felt a bit concerning that training camp has yet to include the participation of veteran forward Trevor Ariza, who'd been dealing with a sore ankle. Well, the mood just shifted from "concerning" to "alarming." The Lakers announced shortly after Wednesday's 117-105 preseason loss to the Phoenix Suns that Ariza underwent an arthroscopic debridement procedure, and is expected to miss at least two months. Ariza may not be the most important member of the team, nor was he necessarily expected to play huge minutes this season. But they did anticipate the minutes Ariza played to be important ones, whether as a starter, a closer, or a bit of both. Plus, Ariza was among the few players on the roster lacking true small forwards who at least *sort of* fit the bill. As such, a thin position just grew more depleted.
