Summary

Depression affects nearly 20% of the entire population. Only about one third of those people affected seek treatment, and even less than that actually see results from their medications and treatments. The past year has brought on high rates of depression, loneliness and anxiety. How can we find better ways to help those that are struggling with these issues that could lead to morbidity and death? In today’s episode we’re talking about the functional medicine approach to depression. We talk about how depression can lead to other mental health disorders as well as how it can affect our bodies physically. We look at the root causes of this disease and how we can overcome symptoms naturally, including supplements and activities that can help us promote mental and physical wellness to overcome or combat depression. For more on this topic, be sure to check out episode 64 of the Lindsey Elmore Show, ‘Healing Anxiety Naturally.’
