a shrine in Kyoto, Japan, called the temple of a thousand Buddha. Inside the shrine,

when you go in, there are at least little over a thousand statues of Buddha. Everyone

slightly differ from the other. The idea is that worshipers come in and they look around and look around until

they find the one that resembles them the most, and they bow and worship that one. But you see,

self-worship is not unique to Buddhism or any other group for that matter. Self-worship is the largest religion in the world.

Self-worship is the religion of many of our political leaders. Self-worship is the religion

of many a movie star and the ruling class. Self-worship is the most practiced religion by the media

elite today. And to be sure, self-worship

religion takes many forms. It has variety of expressions, and it can be packaged in a thousand

different ways. But its content is the same, me, myself, and I. In the West, we may not have the Temple of

Thousand Buddhists, but we sure have, every second commercial is reminding us, don't forget

to worship yourself. When Moses appeared before Pharaoh and said to him, Let my people go. Egypt was filled with idols and idol worshippers, but in the end,

they really were self-worshippers. Somebody would say, well, Michael, wait a minute, they didn't

believe, they don't know. How can they know? Well, let me read to you from Romans chapter 1, verse 20.

Ever since the creation of the world, God's invisible nature, namely his eternal power and deity,

have been clearly perceived in the things he created, so they are without excuse. But even then, Yahweh, God, the power and might,

the God of heaven, has revealed his power to the Egyptians over and over and over again,

demonstrating his supernatural power, his power over their gods, and yet, at the end,

they did not believe. I used to hear people say, you know, if miracles will happen again today,

people will believe. Well, actually, history proves again and again that this is a fallacy.

And here in the book of Exodus, God manifests his supernatural power,
