Chapter 30 and 31

In the last chapters,

Jim stumbles into the Pirates' camp, with Long John Silver welcoming him warmly.

Sensing tension among the Pirates, Jim boldly admits to cutting the ship's rope, which amuses silver, but

angers the others.

Silver, struggling to maintain control, confides in Jim that another mutiny is brewing and that they

need each other to survive. The pirates then give Silver a black spot, deposing him as captain.

Silver, however, regains their support by presenting the treasure map, given to him by Livesy before his departure and arguing

the pirates need for Jim as a hostage.

Silver reclaims his leadership and Jim reflecting on the day's events

begins to realize the precariousness of his situation.
