0:21.6	Our top story, well, of all let us acknowledge all of the
0:26.5	veterans out there. It is Veterans Day. I always thought Veterans Day was
0:30.8	celebrated on a Monday. My kids were home from school today to my surprise.
0:35.6	And I did, I was thinking my father was a World War II vet and my brother was a
0:42.4	Vietnam era vet he was in Thailand he was over there but they were both
0:46.8	volunteers they both went young at like the age of 18 they both love this country
0:52.3	and I learned a lot at my father's knee about love of country
0:57.2	but it was absolutely positively always couched in the reasons for loving the country and he pointed out that America was extraordinary not exceptional.
1:12.0	He never suggested that we had or an exception to the law, the rules of
1:17.6	sovereignty. He always said to respect the sovereignty of other nations.
1:23.0	He would point out what was so great about this country and it was the liberty to be yourself,
1:30.0	to practice your own religion, to exchange freely in the marketplace, and all of the
1:38.0	prosperity and joy that came from that. And the moral basis of it being that no one could tell you what to do against, for example, your own religion.
1:49.0	And he always, it was never my country right or wrong. It was always something more concrete than that and it was based in morality
1:59.8	liberty and justice for all very important to him.
2:03.1	And a couple of things he told me along the way.
2:07.3	One is he was strongly opposed to segregated troops,
2:11.9	whatever, there was a lot of racial segregation when he was in the service, and he thought that was very wrong.
2:18.0	And he used to cite for me, pointed out to me, that the Japanese segregated troops were the most decorated division
2:30.3	in the family lore and I found the 442nd regimental combat team a segregated
