If we are really honest, we begin most relationships with an agenda in mind, a transaction.

We are wanting something for ourselves out of it.

I know some people will reject that, but I'm going to reject their rejection.

I mean, we are either hoping for something from another person or even what we're doing for them, quote, selflessly, it makes us feel good about ourselves.

We get something from that and that's okay.

That's a high level, an evolved level, mature level of self-interest.

Our focus today is before you seek to get anything from anyone in a relationship, you need to earn the right.

And in a relationship, this usually takes a while, but most people start relationships by talking about themselves or trying to solidify an opportunity, whether it's a job, a date, a new friendship or a work opportunity.

And they do it prematurely before they've actually made any true meaningful connection.

And in truth, provided some value to the other person.

Well, this is part three on René Moreno and her message on becoming a master communicator.

This is my peer discussion and my co-host is Dan Miller, one because he's a professional communicator too, because he and my mom met René at an event put on by big publisher and they texted me saying I just had to have her on the show, which I'm so grateful I did.

Three, most of you know Dan is my dad and we have great conversations together as you'll hear at the top of the show.

I credit him with schooling me as a kid and how to communicate and win friends and influence people.
