Summary

We talked to Schuyler Bailar, the first openly transgender NCAA Division I swimmer, about what issues trans people face and what we can do about it. Caroline Cull came on to tell us about what being asexual means and why more representation is needed, and finally, the United Nations Youth Envoy kicked off the episode with a conversation about the importance of youth activism.  #SwipingSafely is our Pride month campaign dedicated to raising awareness around the exploitation of LGBTQ+ youth in online spaces and how we can facilitate safer experiences. Throughout June, we'll be doing 6 episodes surrounding this issue. We'll be joined by influencers, experts, activists, and teens around the world who will talk to us about their experiences as a queer person.  Socials: @teenagertherapy Website: teenagertherapy.com  teenagertherapypodcast.com Send Us Something: P.O. 0:32.7

great people that will educate you more on a lot of issues such as being trans, interested

0:38.7

in transitioning and such and trans athletes. And then you'll also get to hear about what

from Sri Lanka, but I now work at the United Nations as the Secretary-General's Envoy

1:10.6

on Youth. And what does that mean? That means I advise and represent the world's top diplomat,

1:19.1

the UN Secretary-General, on issues that affect and are related to young people in our world

1:25.4

today. Wow, how did you even begin to get a job like that?

1:30.3

This is certainly not a job that existed, you know, when I was in high school or even university,

1:36.2

because it's quite a new role. The role actually came into being because today our world is younger

1:42.8

than it has ever been. We have half of our world's population today under the age of 30. So the

1:49.4

United Nations wanted to create a focal point on an office that can be an interface with those

1:56.0

young people and that can also be a bridge between young people and governments and the United

2:01.1

Nations. So my office was established with that aim in mind. And I came into this role because in

2:08.2

my home country, Sri Lanka, I had done quite a bit of work when it comes to youth mobilization

2:14.2

and youth activism on youth policy and in the national youth council of my country. So all of
