Hey fam, it's me Amara. Welcome to the TransLash podcast, a show where we tell trans

stories to save trans lives. Well, today is Trans Day of Remembrance, a time when we honor those

in our community who are no longer with us,

especially due to violence. And when we say violence, we mean violence in all of its forms,

whether or not it be political, policy, cultural, economic, or, of course, physical.

This year's heightened anti-trans rhetoric, however, makes this day even more relevant.

What does TransDave Remembrance mean at a time when there are attacks on every aspect of

trans existence and when there's an all-out political assault without in to make life as

difficult as possible for trans people.

Well, in order to take a look at all of this is a person who is responsible in many ways

for the world that we are living in, and that is Kyler Bratis.

With decades of experience advocating for trans people, particularly trans people of color, What does this moment say about the siblings that we have lost,

as well as where our community is headed?

We have to get grounded.

Grounded, meaning, planting our feet on the ground, do breathing, exercising,

and be in touch with people. And I do think being off of social

media is a good thing. I think being connected in some way, knowing what's going on, but not relying

on social media is going to be important. But before we get into all of that, let's start it as always with some trans joy.

This is Trans Awareness Week, a time when we want to shine the spotlight on all things trans. Well, we do

that all the time here at Translash, but you know what I mean. To observe the occasion here at Translash,

though, we created a zine called Transcesters and Trailblazers, 30 Lives and 30 Legacies, which honors

those in our community who have broken new ground through their very existence.
