The Patriots are back on the practice fields on Monday and spent a large amount of time inside the red zone.

How'd they do? We're going to break it down for you.

0:08.0

Hey!

0:13.0

Welcome everybody to the Patriots Training Camp Cast and after two days off, the Patriots are back on the practice fields today back in pads long session spent most of their time in the red zone

0:25.3

Paul and just to set it up I would say felt like Drake may the offense got off to a good start

0:29.7

early and seven on seven and some of the early high red zone periods but later in the day

0:34.5

felt like the defense won things I would largely agree with your assessment I have have a lot of reps. A lot of, they got a lot of plays in today, a lot of situational plays starting from, you know, around the 25 at one point late in the game, late game situations they closed practice with, and then they went all the way down to the low red zone, with various situations down and distance.

0:54.6

So I think they got a lot of work done, but I would agree with you.

And DJ James was one guy in particular.

1:00.0

I thought he really flashed that first day when he was with Alex Austin with Gonzo out

1:06.6

and Carlton Davis out.

1:08.2

But I thought he kind of flattened out a little bit the last couple of days. He was right back there today, including one rep against Stefan Diggs, which really caught my eye, not an easy guy to keep track of even in the red zone. Yeah, I'd agree with that. I thought when the offense was in the high red zone or right outside the red zone, they were able to make some bigger plays down the field with Trayvion Henderson

1:28.2

highlighting practice with two big plays on linebackers in coverage. So when they were outside

1:34.0

and they could throw it in from like the 20 or 25, I thought the offense found some success

1:39.0

early on in the practice. But then when they moved into the low red zone portion inside the 10-yard line, the coverage, like Paul said, really tightened up, and DJ James had multiple good reps against front-line players, Diggs, Kyle Williams, Kishon Booty. So it was a back-and-forth, which is always good to see, but the defense seemed to win that later portion of practice. Definitely another back and forth day.

Let's highlight, though, the final play of practice. It was a fourth down. Controversial. About four-yard line, Drake put it up, targeting Kishon Booty, DJ James, tight in coverage. Nobody knows for sure if he got both feet down. I think everybody said he caught the ball. We still don't know. was one of those bang bang, bang, got to have it plays. But overall, I think it highlighted just the level of competitiveness that continues to permeate through this camp. You know, one more player, Paul, I have to highlight is Jvon Baker. We've talked a little bit about him, playing mostly with the second team. But at one period in seven-on-seven where he had, I think, three straight touchdown catches from

2:34.2

Josh Dobbs. Also had a nice catch in 11-11s. Had a drop, though. I guess got punched out of him

2:39.2

later on another drive. So Javon Baker, maybe a little bit behind the front line guys, but he seems

2:44.8

like he's putting together a little bit of a run here. Make it a little bit of a push. I would say

2:47.7

he's been more active the last two or three times we've seen practice than

2:50.9

he had been previously. But the one that I kind of take away is allowing that one on the back

2:57.4

line of the end zone under the goalposts allows to get knocked out. I think the play probably
