| 0:00.0 | And just like that, Patriots 2025 training camp is underway. |
| 0:03.7 | What happened in day one? |
| 0:05.0 | We're here to break it down for you. |
| 0:11.1 | Deuce and Lazare here to break down day one of Patriots training camp, Ev. |
| 0:18.4 | It's good to be back on a first day of school vibe a little bit. Absolutely. It's good to be back. Plenty of highlights, of course, things started off. We had a bunch of puppies arrived today, and Stefan Diggs almost lost one. Luckily, not a precursor to what was to come. It was an active day, more of a review day, I would say, listening from some of the players early on. But I think the thing that stood out to me was the very first play in 11 on 11, Stefan Diggs on a crosser. He's like, this is what we're here for. Little connection between him and Drake. Good way to start things. It's a great way to start things. And only two team periods in the 90-minute practice. So it wasn't a ton of like real football to glean. I want to come in here and have all these big proclamations off of one practice |
| 0:38.4 | not in passing. practice. So it wasn't a ton of like real football to glean. I want to come in here and have all these |
| 0:54.7 | big proclamations off of one practice, not in pads. But it was great to see Stefan Diggs out there as a |
| 1:00.8 | full participant. It didn't seem like he was limited at all or hindered at all by that knee injury. And like |
| 1:06.9 | you said, very first play of 11 on 11's little shallow crosser over the middle of the field, |
| 1:12.6 | in stride as Stefan Diggs, big roar from the crowd. |
| 1:15.6 | That's the connection everybody came here to see. |
| 1:17.6 | So it's great to already have those two hitting it off. |
| 1:20.9 | Staying with some individual plays. |
| 1:23.1 | Kyle Williams, a couple catches. |
| 1:24.3 | Real nice contested catch along the sideline against Christian Gonzalez. |
| 2:36.7 | Again, I think there were maybe about 13 or 16 total plays of 11 on 11 this whole practice. But Kyle Williams, rookie, making two catches. It's hard to ask for a better start for a rookie receiver than to, you know, get involved early. Absolutely. And against Christian Gonzalez on the backside, Drake May kind of broke it down after practice and said he saw, you know, one-on-one out there and just gave Kyle Williams a chance, a little back-shoulder fade, finished through some contact on Gonzo. It was pretty tight in coverage. So that was one thing that you talk about with speed receivers, you know, 190 pounds, like how is he going to play through contact? How is he going to handle the physicality of the NFL? And Kyle Williams right away made a play right through contact. So that was good to see. And the other catch that he made a little underneath dumpoff that Drake May had to him, it looked like a nice progression by Drake to get to the checkdown. And Kyle Williams turned it up field, and he had some room there. You know, Robert Spillane was trying to catch up to him and you saw that juice and that ability after the catch shine in that play as well. So I thought that even in a live setting that that probably would have been a big play for Kyle Williams too. So two really standout plays from him. Now, you've been saying you're really excited to see how Drake, you know, meshes into Josh McDaniels offense, what it looks like, you know, |
| 2:38.5 | what were just some of your takeaways today watching, |
| 2:40.5 | and admittedly limited sample size. |
| 2:44.1 | It was nice to see some of the quick rhythm throws that we did see. |
| 2:47.5 | One that really stood out was to Pop Douglas on the right sideline, |
| 2:49.8 | just a little slant flat, but he read it quickly. |
| 2:51.4 | The ball was out on time. |
