reshaped the United States. In the process, we answer some of the most vexing questions that

have confronted and continue to confront the American left. There's never been a socialist or labor

party in the U.S. the way there was in Germany and elsewhere in Europe. We examine Marx's life in all its contradictions.

And I should say one of the reasons he was paying close attention to it is because

translations of capital were selling better in Russia than anywhere else.
