On August 18, 1952, a young girl tragically lost her life after being in the center of a truly

horrifying story. One she managed to walk away from, only to be met with an unexpected end

after justice was served. So if you like your coffee hot but your bones chilled, sit back and start your day with a

morning cup of murder. Florence Sally Horner was born on April 18, 1937 in Camden, New Jersey,

to Russell and Ella Horner. When she was just five years old, Sally's father took his own life, and Ella was left to raise her daughter on her own.

Though she was helped by the girl's older half-sister, Susan Panaro, who was seven months pregnant at the time our story takes place.

Sally was a sweet girl.

She was smart, too.

Noted as an honors student, she attended Northeast Elementary School, where, like most young girls, she wanted to impress her more popular classmates. So in March of 1948, when she was just 10 years old, she accepted a dare and went to steal a five-cent notebook from a local Woolworth store.
