President Donald Trump is teasing a significant trade announcement today. And a source familiar with the administration's plans tell CNN the deal will be with the UK.

In a social media post yesterday, Trump posted that there will be a news conference at the Oval Office

this morning, quote, concerning a major trade deal with representatives of a big and highly

respected country, the first of many.

For weeks, Trump officials have said that they are talking to more than a dozen countries

and are nearing a deal, but none have been announced so far.

But Trump's announcement is the second significant sign this week that the administration

may be open to negotiations that would ultimately lower some tariffs.

Yesterday, Treasury Secretary Scott Besson told members of Congress that trade negotiations with China will

begin on Saturday in Switzerland. But as CNN's Kevin Liptack explains, U.S. officials

don't have huge expectations.

And in fact, President Trump said that he doesn't plan to lift that 145 percent

tariff that currently rests on China.

Instead, what it seems to be is that these two sides will come to some sort of framework

about how the talks will proceed and about what exactly could be on the table.
