The trade deadline is a week away.

And Fred Zinke and I are going to be previewing the trade deadline and talking about all things coming up, including who are the sellers, who are the buyers, who are one of the fantasy ramifications, all that and more coming up next on the rhodo wire fancy baseball podcast podcast

hey everybody welcome to the rhodower fancy baseball podcast i'm jeff Erickson here with Fred Zinke, and we are talking all things baseball trade deadline today.

0:43.4

We're going to be a pretty light on the news unless it kind of like impacts like the discussion on the trade deadline.

Obviously, you want to see the latest news. Go to RotoWire.com. Get that free trial at rotelwire.com slash pod. You can check out the latest on Juli Rodriguez, the Dodgers, The Dodgers Closer Situation in that. Although we'll be referring to both of those probably in the course of this podcast here. Fred, it's been pretty quiet so far. This trades that we have seen have been pretty minor. We know, the big ones actually, the Padres got out in front of it. They got Arias early. They got Dylan C's before the start of the season. Those are probably the two biggest trades we've seen so far. Yeah, for sure. And pretty typical of the Padres. They like to be aggressive. You know, I think of the Padres and probably the Mariners as two two teams that will kind of go after what they want and make a lot of moves. But I think it's, I think it, you know, patience is a virtue and I think it's exciting. Like the excitement is coming. So the fact, I don't know, I kind of, I kind of would rather see just a title wave of trades like Monday and Tuesday. I think that would be really fun rather than them all spaced out. So, you know, rather than two or three a day up until then. So I hope that there aren't many this week. I hope that it just this huge wave of trades at the beginning of next week. I think it would be really, really fun. Yeah. I get that there. And I'm actually kind of on board with that too.

2:03.3

It's, you know, I do, I mean, unless it's my team, of course, unless it's the Reds, just, you know, all against all acting against all hope decided to be buyers and going out and swing for the fences and shocking the world a week early and getting that extra starter, that extra week of a player. But other than that, yeah, I'm here. I'm with you on that. Yeah, I mean, from a management perspective, getting the extra week of the player, I think, is a good idea. Just me as a fan. I'd rather, I'd rather, I think I'd rather the title wave all at the end and just chaos.

2:34.3

Now, that assumes that all the trades happen. Like, I think what we don't want is, you know, there aren't any trades this week and there are like seven of them on Monday and Tuesday and that's it. And everybody, it was just kind of like last year. Paralysis by analysis and, you know, nobody was willing to pull the trigger. So we'll see. You know, we'll go through the big names here and talk about the likelihood that they move and and then cross her fingers. Well, let's start off. Who are the sellers that are selling? You know, there's not too many obvious ones here. And I think that's been one of the problems all along is, you know, especially in the National League, where there's been so little separation in the wild card race.

3:09.9

And in fact, the top two teams in the wild card lost yesterday just to draw things even closer.

3:16.5

There's a gap in the nationally between the Braves who are the first wildcard and the Nats who are the last plausible wild car team is seven and

3:27.5

a half games.

3:28.3

It's not much.

3:29.5

It's not much at all.

3:31.4

No, for sure.

3:32.0

We did get another seller in the National League yesterday when the Cubs announced that unless this

3:37.6

week goes much, much better than expected that they will be looking towards the future when they trade.

3:41.9

They said something like that, which is basically saying we're sellers.

3:44.8

Yeah.

3:44.8

I just do that, actually.

3:46.7

I'm glad you.

3:47.0

Yeah.

3:47.2

So the Cubs put that out there yesterday.

3:50.0

Like I'm paraphrasing, but it basically said unless we have a great run between now and the deadline. We will make trades that look more towards the
