I'm your host, John B, from gangreneation.com, with a bonus episode because the New York Jets have traded defensive end, Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for defensive tackle to Vondres Sweat.

A little bit later on this episode, we'll talk about what sweat brings to the table for the Jets, where he could slot in along the Jets'

defensive line. But first, let's talk about why the Jets made this trade. I think that many Jets

fans are upset at the team trading Jermaine Johnson. I also think this is a situation where

your heart may tell you one thing, but your head tells you something else, and you should

listen to your head.

Now, your heart might be upset today because Jermaine Johnson was a homegrown player.

He was a guy the Jets drafted in the first round in 2022.

They actually traded up for him.

He ended up making a Pro Bowl in 2023.

His career was moving in a really positive direction. He's a guy who, by all accounts,

has been really solid in the locker room. He's also been vocal about wanting to be here for the

long run. And during this miserable 15-year stretch, the Jets have not drafted many good players.

And when the Jets draft a good player, the fan base tends to become

attached to him. That's natural. You know, we love homegrown players as fans. And the Jets have had a

difficult time keeping the few quality players that they've drafted. So in that context, it's very

easy to be upset today because I think there was a hope that

Germain would be a jet for life. We have not had many homegrown jets who have been here

for the long haul. It seemed like he may have been one of those guys. However, objectively speaking,

I think this is the right move for the Jets. In 2024, in the second game of the season, Jermaine suffered an Achilles injury, ironically,

against the Tennessee Titans.
