Summary

Benny and Luca Harrington were both born to be pro skiers. Their parents were featured in Warren Miller movies in the 90's, and these kids were born with skiing genes and the passion to be the best.  And right now, the Harrington brothers are killing it.  Benny's the built-like-a-tank older brother that's 2-time Olympic halfpipe skier and Luca is coming off back-to-back seasons of X Games Slopestyle Gold and recently took home his first piece of Olympic hardware with a Bronze.  It's the "2 brothers, one podcast," episode and Uncle E asks the Inappropriate Questions.

It's time to talk some shit on the Powell movement.

Welcome to the Powell movement.

0:17.1

I'm your host Mike Powell, and I'm going to start with saying I've gotten more positive messages about my intros than ever before and it's all because I haven't had that much of a filter on myself. But I have had a filter. I don't know if it's safe to go full Powell out here. But I've also gotten so much surprise from a lot of you that I'm really quitting the show. So I'm going to answer your question of why.

0:38.0

I feel like it's time. And it's more for my sanity than anything. I can always go out and get more

0:43.4

sponsors and guests and keep the show going. But, well, it looks like I do all the podcast shit myself.

0:49.5

And was always a big part of it. She did the logo. She did the art. She put the episodes up each week. And now what you don't see is me going to do show art in a Canva that Ann set up for me on her account. Or when I go upload the podcast, when I go to the host network, it has her name and fingerprints all over the place. And then when I go to upload my site each week, I have to go watch a video that An and I made while she was in the hospital that shows me how to do it. And it's all really fucking painful and I'm sick of doing it. So while this podcast is once a great thing for me, it's not so much anymore. And I know I talk about myself and my grief way too much in these intros and I kind of get annoyed with doing it because I feel like you're annoyed listening to it. I will say that I'm okay most of the time. I still cry every day. I mean, sure, there's been three or four days since June 22nd that I haven't cried, but crying is my reality, and I can be in public or private. I don't even care anymore. I just try to keep it away from my kid. So that's why I'm ending the show. It's been repetitive for 10 years for sure, but really it's tied to a lot of things that I've lost, and I don't really look at it as quitting the show, as I've achieved everything I sought out to do. I wanted to have the best ski podcast out there, and I wanted it to be successful right away. And I said to myself in the beginning, if the numbers of this podcast stopped growing, I'd stop doing the podcast because that meant that people didn't want it. But I've checked all the boxes that I've sought out to achieve. So that's why the show is going to end. Let's see, what else is going on in life? Nothing good. I guess I'm going to see the casualties this week in a really small room. It'll be like 200 people. I'm going to wear a mouth guard because it's going to be an insane show. I'm also putting together my end of show guest list. And while the next two months aren't fully planned out, other than next week's totally random 420 episode, I'm going to end this thing on fucking fire.

I want to thank you for listening. I want to ask you to share my social posts and to tell a

3:54.4

friend about the show. It really does help the show grow, and while growth is not my

3:58.3

concern these days, it's always nice to see the numbers keep going up. So thank you for that.
