Welcome to the Powell movement. I'm your host Mike Powell, and this week I'm not going to

And I'm not going to tell you about my kids scraping the pain off a car that he described as not that nice in a parking lot the other night.

But when I got the insurance report from this incident, it happened to be a 2023 BMWX5. No, I'm not going to start talking about that because if I do, I'm going to go into a spiral and talk all kinds of bullshit. That'll be funny, but it won't be worth having recorded. So I'm not going to do that. So how can I complain this week like I do in all of my episodes in the intros? well, the obvious way would be to talk about politics,

but I don't do that shit, or at least I try not to, especially after I voiced some opinions

about vaccines during the pandemic, and I not only got mean emails, but I also lost listeners

and followers. And it's funny how that happens when you put an opinion out there online. Before that,

people were only emailing me telling me I was a douchebag because I asked too much about money. And I do that and whatever, I'm going to continue to do that. But that was their opinion and I'm not going to shit on anyone's opinion in this podcast intro because I don't want to lose people. And really, I don't want politics to define my relationships, whether it be in life or with my listeners or whatever, but sometimes they do. And here's my recent personal example, which sucks. My father-in-law recently stopped talking to me because a month ago, when I called to check on him to see how he was doing, because that's one of the things I do, he went on a political rant. And I stopped him mid-rant, and I told him that I never want to hear that stuff from him again. I was kind of a dick of how I said it. I'm like, hey, we have different opinions. Whenever we talk about this, we fight and I don't want to hear anything you have to say about your opinion here because that's not what our relationship is about. Well, he did not take that very well whatsoever. He was very offended and and he told me he was going to hang up, and then he did.

And from there, I received no thank you for my Christmas gift, no Merry Christmas, no happy birthday, or Happy New Year.

And you can bet I wished him and his wife all of that stuff. At least they put some cash in an envelope for Keaton and put it in the mailbox for Christmas.

But that's what's so crazy about talking politics. They're so divisive in this country right now, to the point of ending family relationships. And while I have opinions, and so to each and every one of you, if we don't agree with each other, we can have those conversations and debate that in real time. But in reality, if we ever meet in real time and you listen to

this podcast, we'd better be talking about skiing or snowboarding or something other than politics,

because, well, I'll just say this on my beliefs. When I started this podcast, and I used to say this all

the time, I used to think we were far and away the best country in the world. I don't think that anymore.

What I do think is that my guest this week is far and away one of the in the world. I don't think that anymore. What I do think is that my

guest this week is far and away one of the best skiers that we've had during our time. He's one of

the most creative skiers we've seen do it over the past 20-something years. Sage Catabriga Alosa's story

was told on this podcast eight years ago and Sage and I caught back up and we look back at what's been happening in his world for the past eight years. We talked about his times, his travels with legends, and personal projects with just about everyone.
