Summary

Sammo Cohen was born into the ski industry. He had a famous ski photographer father, a mom at Alta, and he grew up skiing with ski industry royalty. That said, nothing was ever handed to Sammo. While there were early opportunities, to make it Sam had to break away from his Dad and become his own man in the ski industry. Doing that involved betting his college fund ojn a ski trip to Alaska that helped fuel the career that Sammo has built.  On the podcast we talk about religion, death, Utah, skiing, money and so much more. Sam's dad, Lee Cohen, askes the Inappropriate Questions.

Welcome to the Powell Movement.

I'm your host Mike Powell, and I'm back in Seattle after my annual family reunion in Rojobith Beach, Delaware.

While I would tell you what's going on inside my head and with my emotions around not having

0:28.0

and there, I'm not going to do that. I'm going to tell you another story. So this whole deal has me

0:34.0

questioning God. I'm not sure if there is one and I don't know about spirits or ghosts or

0:39.0

anything. And while I did believe there was a God at one point, I never really believed in that other stuff.

0:45.9

And since that's the stuff that I didn't believe in, I've defaulted to the idea that Ange is dead and she's

0:51.6

gone and that's it. There's nothing else from her and that sucks for me

0:55.8

and a lot of other people. But that said, that didn't stop me from trying to get a sign from her.

1:01.6

I went out in Seattle a few weeks ago and I was drinking beers and I ended up playing Papa

1:06.5

Shot. And I was like, Ange, and I did this in my head. I was like, Ant, help me break the high score.

1:12.3

And no shit, I broke the high score.

1:14.6

But the problem with that is that I am really fucking good at Papa Shot.

1:19.0

I always break the score, or a lot of times I break the score,

1:22.4

and I can't really credit Ange for that because of the skills I have with the Papa Shot.

1:27.1

So, fast forward to me at

ski ball in Rojobah Beach, Delaware last week. One of the first nights, I played four games,

1:34.4

and my first three, my high score was 300. That's respectable for a nine-ball ski ball game.

1:40.5

Then, in my head, I asked Ange for some help with a couple hundreds, and I shit you not.

1:46.5

I got five one hundredths in a row, and my total score was 580.
